Personal Instruction Letter

A personal instruction letter is separate from the Will.   It is a document that wraps up all the little loose ends you may have.

It contains the location of:

  • Important documents

  • Safe deposit boxes

  • Outstanding loans

  • Other personal and financial information

A personal instruction letter also details disposition of:

  • Tangible possessions not listed in your Will (household goods)

  • The decedent’s wishes concerning what they want done with their body and funeral arrangements

The document has no legal standing however it helps keep the actual will from become cluttered.  The executor of the actual will usually just follows the wishes of the personal instruction letter to finalize the last few open details pertaining to the decease's estate.
